Who Are The ESL Techies?

Lisa Estrada has had more than 14 years of experience as a bilingual teacher in transitional and dual language classrooms in New York City and Nassau County, NY. Lisa holds a master’s degree in TESOL with a bilingual extension, as well as a professional diploma in school district administration. She presents regularly at local and regional conferences and gives workshops on a variety of topics, including: Academic Vocabulary Instruction for ELLs, Math Strategies for English Language Learners, The Impact of Cultural Diversity on Learning, and Technology in the ESL Classroom. Lisa currently works as an educational administrator in Nassau County, New York providing professional development and technical assistance that emphasizes the integration of technology into the ESL Classroom.
Heather Parris Fitzpatrick has over 12 years of teaching experience in high schools and universities in New York City and Nassau County, NY.  Heather holds a Master’s Degree in TESOL and is a member of the Bilingual/ESL Teachers’ Leadership Academy at Fordham University.  She presents regularly at local and regional conferences and gives workshops on a variety of topics, including:  ESL Strategies for Content Area Teachers, Using the SIOP© Model, Addressing the Needs of ELLs with Interrupted Formal Education (SIFE), and Technology in the ESL Classroom.  Heather currently works as an educational administrator in Nassau County, New York providing professional development and technical assistance that emphasizes the integration of technology into the ESL Classroom.
Irving de la Concha is a certified geek, with over 18 years experience in the computer technology field. His passion for technology and education has garnered him a role as the chief technology advisor for the ESL Techies blog. With regards to teaching experience, he has served as an adjunct professor for NYC Technical College as well as the NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Irving has worked for such prestigious companies such as Fujitsu Consulting, TMP Worldwide, Monster.com and currently works for the Information Technology division of Marvel Entertainment.
